Why do I choose ISOBAA Merino to keep me warm in the worlds coldest climates and everyday living?
Natural materials with high thermal and anti odor properties makes the perfect garments for the job.
I teamed up with ISOBAA last year as I have long known about the incredible properties of merino wool and ISOBAA are a company who make amazing products with high standards.
My kayak guiding work takes me from the Arctic to Antarctica and staying warm and comfortable can be tricky to get right. Turning to natural materials could be seen as a step backwards by some, but we have a lot to gain from natures wonder material.
Merino is truly incredible, it can keep you warm when its cold and cool when its warm. Its anti odor capabilities are also a big bonus because you don't always have the luxury of laundry if you are on a wilderness expedition.
This past week I was camping for 5 days on Lough Corrib, an inland Irish lake. My Merino 320 long sleeve top, merino boxers and socks were perfect. I felt fresh and warm all week. A quick swim in lake each day and back into my ISOBAA gear was all I needed for 5 days of comfort.
On polar voyages I do have the luxury of bringing more luggage and multiple changes of base layers. So I can use a number of different layers throughout the expedition. From freezing cold temperatures on the water to chatting in the lounge or scouting on deck, I am almost always in a ISOBAA base.
At home I find myself wearing ISOBAA layers more and more as the autumn days draw in. The only time I have found merino slightly uncomfortable is if I was doing a high intensity training session. If I am sweating I can feel the wool fibers more on my skin. This maybe a personal thing. Overall I am very happy with ISOBAA products and working with this fantastic company. I'd highly recommend to start adding ISOBAA merino products to your wardrobe and adventure kit.
